Airtable - Petty Grievance List

In the last experiment, I learned how to sort records of my trips through time into chronological order. Sorting in order or grouping by type is useful for addressing clutter, but sometimes you just need to hide data without actually deleting it. To do this, I built a "Petty Grievance List."

The Setup

I populated the database with a few standard workplace annoyances: "Ate my labeled sandwich," "Microwaved fish," and "Replied 'All' to a company email."

To track where I stood on these issues, I added a Single Select field called "Status" with options for Active and Forgiven. At this point, the grid showed everything: stuff that currently annoys me, and things I'd gotten over.

The Filter

The goal was to see only the problems that required attention. I clicked the Filter button in the toolbar and set a simple condition: Where [Status] is [Active].

Immediately, the "Microwaved fish" record (which I had marked as Forgiven) disappeared from the screen.

Verdict

It's not the same as deleting. The information is still there, just hidden. This lets you keep a full history of everything that's happened, while keeping your main list clean so you can focus on what actually matters right now.
